September 27, 2022 | The FSA's participation in the Public-Private-Academic Networking Meeting on Climate-related Risks in Japan, and an announcement to hold a public symposium for the promotion of the use of climate-related information <Summary> The FSA, as a host agency alongside other host ministries and a research institute* from the public sector, joined the Public-Private-Academic Networking Meeting on Climate-related Risks in Japan,** to further deepen collaboration with the relevant stakeholders in regard to the sharing and utilization of climate-related information. As part of such collaborative initiatives, a public symposium aimed at the promotion of the use of climate-related information will be held on October 11, 2022. * The other host ministries and research institute are: Ministry of the Environment; Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; and National Institute for Environmental Studies. ** This meeting is mainly aimed at sharing corporate needs for climate-related information, enhancing a common information base by providing applicable information to meet those needs, and encourage appropriate use of information on climate-related risks and opportunities through public-private-academic networking. From the private sector, companies that provide consulting services in terms of various forecasting regarding climate change and support for TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures) join the network. September 26, 2022 | Publication of the agenda of the second meeting of the "Study Group on Impact Investment – Phase 2" <Summary> The FSA published the agenda of the second meeting of the "Study Group on Impact Investment – Phase 2," which was held on June 17, 2022, co-hosted by the FSA and the National Advisory Board of the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG-NAB Japan). The Study Group meets regularly (on a trimonthly basis) to deepen the understanding of "impact investment" among capital market participants and government authorities. September 26, 2022 | Request for financial measures to deal with disasters caused by Typhoon No.15, 2022 (The Tokai Local Finance Bureau) <Summary> The Tokai Local Finance Bureau alongside the Bank of Japan's Shizuoka Branch issued a statement titled "Financial Measures to Deal with Disasters Caused by the Typhoon No.15, 2022" (available only in Japanese) to the relevant financial institutions. The said statement requests financial institutions in Shizuoka prefecture to appropriately deal with victims of the disaster considering their circumstances, such as by making the repayment of deposits flexible. Disaster-affected area in the prefecture is currently subject to the "Disaster Relief Act." If more areas in the prefecture become subject to the said Act, financial institutions in the prefecture will be requested to take measures in the same manner as above accordingly.
