“The program is very educational, instructive, and guiding. It definitely opens the horizon of your professional knowledge.”
What was your experience like at GLOPAC?
My experience was educational and illuminating. The educational content of the GLOPAC program was stimulating and it was valuable to meet new people and new cultures.
What is the most important thing you learned?
The most important thing I learned is that even though we have grown up with very different cultures, people in the same profession in different parts of the world work for the same purpose and think and discuss the same issues.
How are you applying what you learned?
I can compare the practices and regulations in the sector I work in my country with similar practices and regulations in Japan. This makes it easier for me to analyze missing or needed improvements in our own applications.
What would you like to tell people who are considering applying?
The program is very educational, instructive, and guiding. It definitely opens the horizon of your professional knowledge. You cannot passively attend the program; it requires active participation. It offers sector and university visits and an environment where you can discuss with colleagues, present your findings and knowledge, and discuss presentations and assignments prepared by your fellow participants. I recommend participating in this program—it is a very good professional experience.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
With my participation in the program, I gained valuable experience not only professionally but also socially. I had the opportunity to see Tokyo, the world's most populous city, and many other regions. I experienced very different lifestyles and a brand-new culinary culture. In addition, I had the opportunity to learn about the cultures of my new friends whom I met in the program.

“GLOPAC gave me an unforgettably good experience in Japan during my three months of training in 2016.”
What was your experience like at GLOPAC?
The opportunity to meet many good people was certainly helpful in improving my personal skills, for example speaking, listening, and demeanor. I also learned about the Japanese insurance market from both the regulation side and internal industry side and about the core principles of insurance intermediaries. We also visited insurance companies and related associations to learn more about how they work and develop their business strategies for successful performance, for example the Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) concept.
What is the most important thing you learned?
I learned about the core principle and standards of insurance regulation and related application paperwork. I also wrote a report and presented on the core principle of intermediary supervision in insurance markets.
How are you applying what you learned?
I became the chairperson of a market conduct and consumer protection working group which was appointed by Secretary-General of the OIC with respect to 2017–2018 Financial Sector Assessment Program for Office of Insurance Commission, Thailand.
What would you like to tell people who are considering applying?
It is a good opportunity for you to have a unique experience and become a better person.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to the GLOPAC staff for giving me an unforgettable experience in Japan during my three months of training in 2016.
